Railways – Highways England Historical Railways Estate

NPX, a joint venture between Network Plus and XEIAD, has been successfully awarded a 10-year framework with Highways England for the Historical Railways Estate Examination contract. The contract started in April 2021. NPX works in the East Region covering sites from Durham and Yorkshire, through to East and West Midlands. NPX delivers asset examination services on a cyclical basis to hundreds of disused rail bridges and tunnels that form part of the Historical Railway Estate.

The contract scope will see Network Plus and XEIAD programme, plan and deliver nearly six hundred visual and detailed structures examinations annually. Work activities also provide asset monitoring services for at-risk structures and a 24/7 response for bridge strikes and emergency incidents. Environmental components of the scope of works will see NPX delivering ecology studies to safeguard bats and other protected species, maintaining gates, fences and access points, and clearing vegetation and debris to facilitate examinations.

Tram systems – Trafford Park Line

Our sister business, Go Traffic Management provides vital traffic management solutions nationwide. In a award winning project, the Trafford Park Line, GTM supported the construction of the £350million Manchester Metrolink Trafford Park Line extension. The construction was led by a consortium, MPT between Laing O’Rourke, VolkerRail and Thales.
Work took place across the busy City covering 5.5km and safety, along with minimal disruption was of paramount importance. Go Traffic Management was a major construction supplier to the project and provided full traffic management solutions from, initial traffic design to delivery. The GTM team ensured the latest equipment was used and drew from their years of experience on complex projects to provide effective traffic management solutions.

The project was highly successful, with work completing seven months early in March 2020. It demonstrated best practice in health, safety and wellbeing, innovative solutions and collaboration.
