Scottish Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) and Network Plus sign contract for underground cabling in the Ridgeway area

Underground Cabling and Traffic Management

We are thrilled to announce we have been awarded a new contract with SSEN. This will include both planned and reactive underground cable infrastructure works up to 33kV in the Ridgeway Area. A phased mobilisation of the contract will commence from 1st April 2024, continuing for 4 years plus 1 + 1 + 1 extensions.

These planned and reactive (24/7) works will cover underground infrastructure works, including LV and HV Cable Overlay, Link Box replacements, customer connections, third party backfill and reinstatement and the provision of fault teams.

This builds on our existing relationship with SSEN, where we are responsible for overhead line works up to 33kV and vegetation management works up to 132kV networks in the Reading and Aldershot areas. Our current teams working on these projects are based in Hermitage, near Reading. We’ll now be looking into Chippenham as a further depot to support this contract.

As Network Plus expands its footprint in the south and in power, this contract award further demonstrates our capability in the delivery of planned and reactive underground infrastructure works.

Dan Burgess is our Contract Director for this project, this is what he had to say:

“This award represents a significant success for Network Plus and acknowledges the strength of our partnership with SSEN. We are delighted SSEN have chosen us to expand our working relationship for the delivery of vital reactive and planned infrastructure programmes in the Ridgeway region and we are excited to get started.”
