Network Plus awarded two significant projects with WPD

cable laying contracts

Continuing the successful delivery of cable laying projects on behalf of Western Power Distribution (WPD), Network Plus have recently won two significant new projects in Nottingham and Burton Upon Trent.

The first project in Hucknall will see Network Plus install two 11kV circuit breakers and 11kV cables to two 1000kva substations in the Nottingham area. The work will involve excavation, duct laying and cable installation. The substation will provide supplies to housing development with over 800 houses, a primary school and community Centre.

Carl Dixon, Network Plus General Manager said “We will do all we can to minimise the impact on local people, the school and members of the public. As part of our commitment to the community, we are supporting local boarding kennels with treats and toys for their animals while we complete works in the area.”

The second project involves the installation of a new 11kV cable and circuits to the boundary of a new housing development in Burton Upon Trent. The new development includes 270 houses, a health care centre and primary school.

Carl Dixon, Network Plus General Manager said “Similar to the first project, we recognise we need to minimise the impact on local people while we carry out the works. This project involves working near a hospital and primary school, so we need to be sensitive to their needs. We’ll be supporting the local primary school including by providing them with custom made high visibility vests for children to wear whilst walking to school.

We’re delighted with these project contract awards. Network Plus will be carrying all aspects of the works including work programming, planning, community engagement, jointing and traffic management.”
