At Network Plus we are delighted to announce the award of a significant contract with CityFibre to bring full fibre to homes across Bradford. The new contract will see vital full fibre infrastructure delivered to over 137,000 properties in the Yorkshire city.
The contract award is part of a major programme for CityFibre, the UK’s third national digital infrastructure platform, which sees full fibre roll-out across 66 towns and cities in the UK. Construction activities to install the core fibre network in Bradford will commence in 2021.
Activities to be carried out by Network Plus and our engineers include a mixture of below ground construction and ducting of fibre cables, as well as installing poles for the aerial fibre network.
Valued at £57m, the award of this new contract gives us a significant opportunity to bring employment benefits to Bradford, enabling us to continue to deliver on the Network Plus social value agenda. Network Plus will be recruiting new resources to work in the Yorkshire area to support the CityFibre contract delivery, as well as investing in substantial fibre installation skills, training and accreditations.
Joint CEO Dan Holland said: “’This is a major expansion of our telecoms sector and builds on our established reputation for delivering infrastructure projects on time with a great attention to service and safety. Recognising the importance of access to fibre networks particularly during COVID-19, we are really pleased to be supporting CityFibre by delivering the benefits of next-generation broadband to Bradford.”
