Background

Network Plus is delivering a critical 13km mains electricity reinforcement project on behalf of National Grid, designed to enhance regional resilience, capacity, and long‑term reliability. The scheme began on 25/08/2025 and has a targeted completion date of 21/08/2026.

To date, 5km of the project has been successfully completed through coordinated delivery, strong safety leadership, and proactive engagement with local communities and stakeholders.

Overview

The project is being driven by an experienced and highly engaged Network Plus team, led by Operations Manager Connor Devine, with customer engagement, communication, and community support coordinated by Customer Liaison Officer Katie Price. Day‑to‑day site supervision is overseen by Supervisor Charlie Finney, with the on‑site delivery carried out by the skilled field team of Jason Heath and Andy Welch.

Their collaborative approach has underpinned significant progress across the 13km scheme, which supports three key circuits:

Mary Webb Estate Reinforcement

Delivery within a residential environment requires sensitivity, precision, and consideration. Under Charlie Finney’s supervision, Jason Heath and Andy Welch demonstrated excellent conduct and careful planning to minimise disruption and maintain accessibility for residents.

Euro Garages Service Station Reinforcement

Working in an active commercial setting demanded flexibility and seamless coordination. Connor Devine’s operational planning allowed the team to protect continuity of service for businesses while keeping the programme on track.

Shrewsbury Hospital Reinforcement

As a critical healthcare site, this section required the highest levels of safety, professionalism, and compliance. The team responded with exemplary discipline and attention to detail, ensuring zero‑compromise delivery in an extremely sensitive environment.

Across all areas, Katie Price maintained clear, proactive communication with customers and stakeholders—ensuring expectations were managed, feedback was captured, and positive relationships were sustained throughout.

Solution

Network Plus adopted a structured, phased delivery model rooted in safe systems of work, stakeholder involvement, and adaptive operational planning. Key elements included:

  • Tailored work methodologies suited to residential, commercial, and healthcare environments
  • High-quality reinstatement, consistently meeting National Grid’s standards
  • Rapid issue resolution through close collaboration between Connor, Katie, Charlie, Jason, and Andy
  • Agile scheduling to maintain progress despite complex on-site constraints
  • Stakeholder-first delivery, ensuring communities and end users remained informed, supported, and respected

This combination of expertise and customer focus has enabled smooth delivery of the first 5km and positioned the project strongly for successful completion.

Customer Interventions & Positive Outcomes

Customer engagement has been a standout success of the scheme, driven primarily by Katie Price and supported by the on-site team.

Proactive Customer Communication

  • Early conversations with directly affected customers
  • Letter drops across surrounding areas
  • Identification and escalation of priority customers
  • Clear, accessible lines of communication for queries and concerns

Community-Focused Actions

  • Post-phase door-knocking to gather feedback and address issues
  • Thoughtful local engagement, including Halloween treats (pictured above) for residents as a gesture of appreciation

Exemplary On‑Site Interventions

Multiple positive interactions highlighted the team’s dedication to public wellbeing and customer care:

Support for an anxious child with additional needs – Jason and Andy showed patience and empathy, helping the child feel safe walking past the works, earning praise from the family.

Immediate response to a car fire involving a customer and children – An operative acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the family, demonstrating outstanding awareness and courage. Their actions were formally recognised through an award of vouchers (pictured below)

Overall Impact

These interventions strengthened community trust, enhanced the reputation of Network Plus and National Grid, and reinforced the customer-first ethos at the heart of the project.
